Been awhile...

  • Mood: content- I had lasagna for lunch
  • Music: Computer whiirrrrr
  • Treats I'm Eating: nothing right now.
  • Where's Westley: sulking in the corner, waiting for Daddy. {The lasagna was cold}
It has been quite a while since the last post- though not on purpose in any way.

Spring is here in BC, and both doggies have been enjoying some sunshine outside.  Kay has been working more than last year, so she is able to be on the computer to post in the blog less as often... though she admits she has still found time to waste time on computer games.

As for my health- some good and some "bad" updates to pass along.  My diabetes is in check- my medicine is working- and I have been able to gain some weight back.  My back knee is still stiff, but it's not popping any more when I bend it, so I guess my ACL injury is better.

The main development the past few weeks has more bothered the family than myself.  True to my Lhasa Apso heritage and canine diabetes progression, I now have cataracts in both my eyes, so I can't see very well any more- though to be truthful, I could never see very well to begin with because of all the hair in my face.  I see better when there is light, so the family now makes sure they leave the lights on when they go out.  They have also promised to try not to move the furniture around, but I still walk into it quite regularly... but that's no real change either since I've always accidentally walked into things.  [Kay points out now that at least I won't get into fights with the mirror anymore because I can't see my reflection and jump to the conclusion that another dog has entered the house to take my stuff!]

Westley of course could care less about my condition- and it is only recently that he has actually given me a head start on the food dish without having to be restrained by Paul.  Though, part of me wonders if that is because of all the dog food warnings out there... he's just waiting to see if it is safe for him to eat it first...

Anyways, my prayers to the families who have lost their family members due to the dog food problems- and I guess the cats too.

Senseless short cuts in the name of profits is just horrible, even if it leads my family to buy Campbells Chunky Beef stew for my dinner instead of real dog food.  I'm willing to eat it cold, it's only sissy dogs like Westley that go over board and demand it to be heated...

Go CANUCKS Go!

{Every time you are on TV, I can bark loudly, and then I get cookies to get me to shut up.  I hope you go a long way in the playoffs! }

Good day eh,

Sorry, bad steriotypical Canadian joke. I'm happy to hear that your diabetes is being managed well, & I am happy to hear your leg seems to be better. But I might be worried about the vision problems. I'm clumbsy & bump into furniture, usually my toes/feet on chairs or table legs, but I said I was clumbsy. BTW, dogs like lhasa apsos & sheepdogs & other longhaired dogs are farsided, which is how they are able to see. At least that is what I heard on TV during a dogshow.

On a sad note, a friend of my dad, a guy he sees at McDonald's here in town for breakfast every morning, his house burned down. Total loss, he was gone, nobody was home, except his dog Pippin, a little yorkie. He died in the fire, they found him and buried him in the back yard. I never met him, but I heard he was a nice little dog. I take their word for it. On a different note, my sister's new hubby to be has a much bigger dog, a newfoundland named Sara. Very nice dog.

As for the playoffs, my club is gone. The Wild have never done well vs. the Ducks. Outside of Gaborik, none of the guys who are supposed to score goals did, except for game 4. Backstrom was great, but he needed help. No more Calgary either, the Wings dumped them in OT lastnight. BTW, I was watching that on widescreen HD. If you have not done that, look into it, you too will become an HD snob. Also, who is CBC shoving down everyone thoat up there with no Maple Leafs or Habs in the playoffs? I'm assuming Vanny & Ottawa, but I would'nt know.

CBC shoving something down people's throats?? They wouldn't do that... oh wait, that's what they do. Right now they are trumpeting Ottawa, and if the Sens go out, some American team will probably get the bill. [WE ARE ALWAYS LAST ON THEIR MINDS- they do that on purpose to tick us off... well I guess it's just way to insulting for Torontonians to have Vancouverites on TV, so they just avoid the riots by avoiding showing Canucks in prime time, and make sure there is no bias in any form, unless it's against the Canucks.] Groovy, eh?

Anyways, So sad about the Yorkie- we almost got a yorkie before we found Westley- but we were worried that D'Artagnan would sit on her, so we went with Westley who seemed timid, but more robust. ;) ]

Anyways, D'Artagnan has always been pretty much no-sighted, even when he could see, he just demanded that things got out of his way instead of going around it. That's who he is, we guess.

Happy April!

How is everyone in BC? Nothing lately, so I thought I would post something. How is D'Artagnan doing with his diabitis? That requires us who have pets with special needs( yep, a diabetic pet is special needs ) to be on top of their pets health. I hope all is well this summer. Sadie is doing ok thus far with her shots, 4mg twice a day.

Sorry about your Canucks, but I will tip my hat to the Ducks, that was a very good team all season. Hell, they were good last year & then they get Pronger-enough said. I'm happy for Teemu, he's been class forever & is worthy of having his name engraved on the Stanley Cup.

Take care, Dan
