- Mood: Scared silly!

- Music: Music? Who cares about music? It's boom-booming outside again!!

- Treats I'm Eating: Eating? How can you think about eating at scary times like this????

- Where's Westley: Running around scared too! See it's not just me!
Apparently every summer the Celebration [or Symphony as it used to be called] of Light happens in Vancouver. Supposedly beautiful fireworks light up the harbour and thousands of people go down to the beach to watch the fireworks set to music. It is a competition, with three countries trying for the prize, and then there is the finale where they burn off all the extras.
I have a problem with this event for 4 reasons:
1. I don't like the beach because water comes back and forth, trying to give you a bath.
2. People are messy at the beach and leave their stinky garbage everywhere. [They are apparently better behaved this year as there is a civic strike and people are kind of behaving for once.]
3. While people are allowed to go to the event, dogs are not because of people's safety. [There is also a mad dash for the skytrain after where dogs could get trampled, so I guess I'm actually glad I can't go.]
and 4thly, the most important...
Fireworks go BOOM!
I hate things that go boom.
I hate thunder and firecrackers, noisy cars and trucks, falling heavy things, drum sets, the 9 o'clock gun [a cannon that goes off every night in Vancouver; perhaps the one "British" thing that still happens here] angry Paul when a referee does something stupid during soccer games...
I don't like fireworks. And neither does Westley.
I think those are two great reasons why no one should ever use fireworks.
Or at least try not to make Boom-boom noises.
